Matt Brown criticizes Paddy Pimblett weight gain

Matt Brown went 24-19 in a professional career that stretched for almost 20 years before he retired in 2024.

'The Immortal' established a record for the most welterweight knockouts in UFC history on 13, which is a number so that it only leaves heavyweight Puncher Derrick Lewis if you remove weight classes from the comparison.

If someone who knows what is needed to enjoy a long career, he is worried about the weight gain of Pimblett.

“If I were his coach, I would worry,” Brown told MMA Fighting.

“What I tell all my hunters is that we have a short window here. Maybe you are doing this at most 15 to 20 years.

“It is not very much suffering not to put on f—— 40 pounds after a fight. You can enjoy. Enjoy yourself with some moderation and then come back to the gym next week. There is nothing wrong with that.”

He added: “You are not in LFA, Cage Warriors, where he also came from. You are now in the top Mother – in the world, especially if you have about the 155 division. They are absolute in that division.

“You have to keep your f— Eyes on the prize. If I were his coach, I would worry. Like Bro, you can't live this way. You are so close. Let's not climb so far and then start chilling as soon as we almost come to the top.

“This is not the time to relax. This is not the time to have fun. This is time to double. Now it is crunch time. Double what you have done. Do more. Do it better. Do it harder.”

What is the next step for Paddy Pimblett?

Pimblett mentioned former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira as his ideal next opponent after UFC 314.

However, he also stated that he is open to anyone who will lead to a title shot.

In a perfect world, the scouser will clash later this year with a top five lightweight in the middle east.

“I just want to fight,” said Pimblett about the time !!! Podcast with Bruce Buffer.

“Whoever is that one person who gets a title shot, I want that fight.

“My plan was before the fight was to fight in Abu Dhabi in October.

“I've always wanted to fight there. The UFC always does a pay-per-view there in October.

“I just think it would be the perfect time to come back. Charge my batteries in the summer, keep training every day, keep the weight low and then go back to the camp in August or September immediately.”
