Paddy Pimblett continued to shake his head after a controversial decision cost his teammate a UFC debut profit on Saturday evening.
After he had mocked Caolan Loughran because he was 'trained' by Nathan Fletcher in their amateur days, Pimblett had to look while the Irish had lifted his hand in a Prelim Rematch in UFC London. It was seven years ago since the Cage Warriors Academy meeting of the couple, who won the Brit on the maps.
However, the Irishman won his victory in the O2 Arena on Saturday evening, albeit in controversial way. Many thought he had the decision slipping in the third round after losing the second and winning the first, but two jury members gave him the nod, which resulted in massive anger around the arena.
Caolan Loughran defeats Nathan Fletcher in UFC London Rematch
Paddy Pimblett looked from Cageside while teammate Nathan Fletcher took on his old amateur rival Caolan Loughran on Saturday's early prelims in UFC London. Both men are known for training in Liverpool, where Fletcher wins the victory in their unpaid days.
The Irishman, however, looked in total control in the first round of their collision and dominated both on the feet and against the cage in clinches. Fletcher, however, completely turned and sometimes looked in second place near a finish while playing completely with his rival.
In the end it seems that the less experienced Brit may have let himself be tired in his UFC debut in his UFC debut while losing control in the third. He gathered well towards the end of the round, but eventually got two score cards against him.
Fans were indignant about the result, where Pimblett visibly shook his head and put it in his hands when the decision was read. Loughran was booed loudly and fans on social media noticed a big 'theft'.
Caolan Loughran admits that career was 'in the balance' before UFC London wins
After the fact, Loughran was clearly emotional and admitted that he was not sure if he had done enough to justify the victory. He then admitted that he was potentially on the outs after he had lost Jake Hadley in his third UFC outing last summer, but now will certainly get a shot in the Octagon.
“I really thought I won,” he told Michael Bisping afterwards. “But I wasn't really confident, I thought he got some good pictures there at the end, but between rounds my brother said to me:” Merab him, this fight is in the balance. ”
“My career was potential in the balance, he just said:” Merab this B – you don't want this or you. In 2022 I and my brother were looking at Tom in the nose bleeds [Aspinall] And all those guys.
“I swear to God, I know that many of you are not allowed to do me because of the paddy thing. But every boy from Ireland or in the crowd who wants to do this dream because it is so worthwhile.”
