Paddy Power has enjoyed Tottenham by supplying a fake trophy cabinet to their stadium prior to the Europa League final of the team against Manchester United.
Spurs will want to put an end to their 17-year-old waiting for silverware in Wednesday's final, because in recent years they consistently fail to win trophies.
Tottenham misleading in the last stages of competitions has become an ongoing joke between rival fan bases, and now Paddy Power is in the deed.
In the advertisement issued on social media, the spokesperson for Paddy Power announced: “In preparation for their Europa League final, Tottenham Hotspur received a trophy cabinet, in case they actually win the thing.”
One of the supposed deliverers then puts the boot in by adding: 'We have designed this trophy cabinet especially for the club. It can take a maximum of one trophy, so we think it makes it future -proof. '
Much of the fault of the shortcomings of Spurs has been placed at the feet of chairman Daniel Levy, with fans who call him to pump or leave more investments in the club.
Paddy Power used this to dig again at Spurs and Levy, with a second delivery man who is kidding: 'Well, Daniel Levy has held the receipt, so even if they lose, we will simply repay it and straight forward. No harm. '
Since winning their last trophy – the 2008 League Cup – Spurs have lost three finals.
They were defeated in the League Cup final by Chelsea in 2015 and Manchester City in 2021, while they also met the second best against Liverpool in the 2019 Champions League final.
However, there are reasons for Spurs fans to be optimistic that they can win on Wednesday and have the last smile.
Ange Postecoglou has stated that he 'always' wins silverware in his second season, and he is only one match away from fulfilling his promise.
In the meantime, Spurs also has a very strong record against United.
They have not been lost to the Red Devils since 2022 and have all won their meetings this season.
