Vitor Roque had a very difficult first 13 months in Spanish football, who struggled with both Barcelona and Real Betis. The expectation was that he would be a leading figure for the Catalans, who paid more than € 30 million to sign him from Athletico Paranaense last January, but that hope is quickly faded.
Barcelona is already willing to reduce their losses with Roque, and the player himself is said to be also happy to leave La Liga as quickly as possible. There is a chance that this will happen at the end of February, where Palmeiras is very interested in bringing back the 19-year-old back to Brazil.
Earlier this month, Palmeiras failed in an attempt to sign Roque, but they are not deterred. According to the sport, they will make a new approach in the coming days, and it is said that they have trust in a deal that is closed before the transfer window closes at the end of this month in Brazil.
Despite the confidence of Palmeiras, a deal that is completed is far from simple, even if Barcelona and Roque give their approval. Betis must agree to cancel the teenager's loan with immediate effect, and they must do this without asking for compensation, because the Brazilians are not planning to pay.
Palmeiras is hopeful that Betis agrees to let Roque go because they see him as out of grace under head coach Manuel Pellegrini, given that Cedric Bakambu and Cucho Hernandez are in the pecking order for him. The signing of the latter also gives them the impression that no compensation must be requested, since it is Los Colchoneros who supposedly free up the road for Roque to leave.
It will be interesting to see how this situation is developing in the coming weeks. Barcelona would certainly welcome Roque's departure, because it would recruit more money prior to a busy summer, but to make this happen, they trust Betis.
