Paqueta betting scandal enquiry claims he ‘got booked as a PRESENT for brother’

A Brazilian parliamentary investigation into gambling in football has accused the West Ham star Lucas Paqueta of deliberately receiving a yellow card as a birthday gift for his brother.

Paqueta gave proof this week to the Brazilian Senate Committee in his home country.

Although he is 'suspected of game manipulation' by Brazilian researchers according to a report of 629 pages, he will not experience any further action in the South American country.

The parliamentary committee of inquiry on the manipulation of games and sport in Brazil is a separate investigation into the football club against Paqueta about four suspicious yellow cards.

The 27-year-old is accused of deliberately booked in four Premier League matches, against Leicester in 2022, Plus Leeds United, Aston Villa and Bournemouth the following year.

Paqueta has retained his innocence during the investigation, whereby the midfielder has confronted a FA hearing session with regard to the charges next month.

If it is found guilty, Paqueta could make a lifelong ban on football.

According to the evidence that is submitted as part of the Brazilian study, Paqueta announced (to an intermediary named Marlon Bruno Nascimento Silva) that he would give 'a birthday present' to his brother, Matheus Paqueta, that a yellow card in the competition is 12 March. '

On that day, West Ham Aston Villa welcomed in the London Stadium and assured a 1-1 draw when said Benrahma was right about the penalty place after Ollie Watkins had fired the Villans in front.

Paqueta started the game for the Hammers and was booked in the second half after a rash challenge on John McGinn.

The research confirmed that the game took place on Matheus Paqueta's birthday.
