Paris Saint-Germain 1-3 Nice: Unbeaten dream over as Sanson strikes twice

The hope of Paris Saint-Germain to become the first side to come down an unbeaten Ligue season 1 season as a beautiful triumph 3-1 in the Parc des Princes on Friday.

Despite securing the Ligue 1 title earlier this month and having the first stage of their Champions League semi-final draw against Arsenal to come on Tuesday, PSG sent a strong side while they wanted to keep their invincible record.

The home team dominated the first half hour and created opportunity after coincidence, but the visitors took the lead by Morgan Sanson, while he marked his first start of the season by applying a clinical first finish to Badredine Bouani's Doorball in the 35th minute.

The lead lasted only six minutes when Fabian Ruiz scored with a lush half-volley to level, but the Luis Enrique team was later punished for a slow start of the second half.

Only 22 seconds after the restart, Sanson walked up close to leading Nice for the second time.

After they have scored until then from their only two shots on Target, the visitors went up 3-1 when Youssouf Ndayishimiye went home the free kick of Bouanani in the 70th minute.

PSG enjoyed 75% of the possession and created various excellent opportunities, but they remained frustrated by their own idiosyncratic finish and some inspired keepers of Marcin Bulka.

With the clock that taps after 90 minutes and seven added for stopping, Bulka drew an excellent reflex saving to refuse Goncalo Ramos and he followed that with a new top stop of Vitinha's long -distance strike, where every fairly loud Save was celebrated.

The Parisiens continued to flow ahead, but Nice stubbornly defended and held up to give their hope to qualify for the Champions League of next season a considerable lift.

They climb until the fourth in the table at 54 points, only behind the third Monaco placed on goal difference and only a single point of Marseille in second place.

Lille, Lyon and Strasbourg are all within three points of the Franck Haise team, with all sides around them who have a game in their hands.

Data Debrief: PSG proves that they are human

PSG entered the game of Friday, knowing that they still had four obstacles to erase to write history and become the first 'invincibles' in Ligue 1.

They were also only two games without a defeat of the Nantes record for the longest run without losing from the start of a season (32 games in 1994-95).

But instead they have been sent since 12 May 2024 (versus Toulouse) to their first competition and only their third under Luis Enrique in general – all his losses have come home.

They struggled at both ends, and they will now guarantee their lowest totally clean sheets in a Ligue 1 season in the ERA of Qatar Sports Investments (since 2011-12), with seven to date in 2024-25 and only three games to play (formerly 11 in 2011-12).

Ousmane Dembele, Desire Done and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia were simply unable to beat Bulka, whose 12 rescues are a record with one game for a nice goalkeeper in Ligue 1 (because collecting data started in 2006-07).
