Patrice Evra, 43, comes out of retirement to fight in MMA with Man Utd legend training for debut for almost a decade

Legend Patrice Evra van Manchester United makes a shock career change as MMA hunter.

Evra will exchange a football for kicking an opponent while he prepares to make his MMA debut in PFL Europe Paris in the Accor Arena on 23 May.

Since 2016, the Frenchman has been training in combat sports alongside PFL French superstar Cédric Doumbé.

The 43-year-old said: “You should know now, I also love this game!

“I have performed on the largest stages in the world, won every big trophy in football, but PFL Europe Paris will be an incredibly special evening for me.

“I have been training next to the best in the world for years and they will also tell you that I am ready for this.

“I'm going to set up a show in the Accor Arena on 23 May, so come and have a look at the spectacle.”

And after he had canceled his boxing debut in 2022, Evra will now fulfill his new dream next month.

The opponent of the former left back has yet to be announced, but he will fight on the same card as a number of French Vechtsuperstars.

The night will be covered by the lightweight competition between Mansour Barnaoui (22-6) vs. Archie Colgan (11-0), which could lead to championship conflicts.

PFL CEO Pete Murray, said about Evra's recording: “I told that he loves this game as much as we are, and we will discover it on May 23!

“We are incredibly enthusiastic to have the superstar that Patrice Evra fight is under the PFL banner, because we are all about exciting match-ups and writing history.

“I can't tell you how excited Patrice this has compiled, but I think you'll see it in the Accor Arena.

“Paris, we are coming to put on a new historic evening of MMA, don't miss it.”

Evra previously showed off his fighting skills during a notorious incident when he was in Marseille in November 2017.

The 81-CAP Frenchman was sent away when he kicked one of the fans of his team in the head before he resigned a Europa League collision at Vorroria Guimaraes.

He was then accused of violent behavior by UEFA and banished from UEFA competition football until June 2018 before he was fired by his club.

Evra officially withdrew from professional football in 2019 after a year as a free agent after his release from West Ham, which he had connected in February 2018.

He enjoyed a shimmering career that won 20 trophies with Monaco, Man Utd and Juventus, including several league titles in England and Italy and lifting the Champions League with the Red Devils in 2008.
