After less than a year, Newcastle separates itself in work with sports director Paul Mitchell.
The 43-year-old will leave the club at the end of the month due to mutual permission and leaves manager Eddie Howe who is responsible for recruitment until a successor is found.
Mitchell only came to the club last July as a replacement for Dan Ashworth, who transferred to Manchester United.
His enchantment was difficult with Newcastle Hamstrung due to PSR problems, although they managed to secure Champions League football for next season on the last day of the Premier League.
He was forced to supervise the last-minute sale of Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minth last June to save a point deduction, before he did not land the Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace last August, despite the serious interest in the defender.
There were rumors about dissatisfaction and eyebrows were erected earlier this season when Mitchell described the transfer policy as “not suitable for the goal” in an interview with journalists.
Ironically, Mitchell would have had the freedom to act in this summer's transfer window, whereby Newcastle does not add their previous three windows.
How we said earlier this month that there is no reason to believe that Newcastle cannot reinforce this summer.
Mitchell: I'm leaving at the right time
Mitchell reunited himself at Chief Executive Darren Eales in St James' Park, with whom he had previously worked in Tottenham, and referred to his threatening departure in the statement the club has released.
Eales announced that he would resign from his role as CEO in September 2024 after the diagnosis of blood cancer.
“I want to thank everyone at Newcastle United in the past year, including Eddie Howe, Becky Langley, the players, staff, owners and fans,” said Mitchell.
“It was an honor to be part of the club and to work with some incredible people.
“I am leaving at a time that is suitable for me and the club, especially with Darren Eales – someone with whom I worked so closely in my career – will soon continue.
“The club is in good hands on and out of the field and is in a fantastic position to continue building.
“I would like everyone to be connected to Newcastle United a clear and successful future.”
