Paul Pogba visits Patrice Evra as Man United legend prepares for MMA debut

Paul Pogba went to watch Patrice Evra train prior to the mixed debut of the former Manchester United Defender Debut of the Mixed Martial Arts.

Evra, 43, called it a day in his football career in 2019 and changed the boots for gloves while preparing for the debut for the Professional Fighters League (PFL) during their Parisian event on 23 May.

Although his opponent still has to be explained, Evra said on social media that he wants to fight Luis Suarez, whom he was involved in a notorious racism row with in 2011.

In the meantime, Pogba has been without a team since mid-November when his Juventus contract was mutually terminated.

The Frenchman was initially affected with a four -year ban in football in February last year after a drug test had found raised levels of testosterone in his system.

However, the World Cup winner received a lifeline in October when the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) reduced the sanction from four years to 18 months after an appeal.

The friendship of Pogba and Evra dates from 2009 when the former member of the Academy of Man United of Le Havre.

Evra was a vice-captain of the club and already a senior figure, which led him to have adopted a mentorrol towards his countryman.

The two played together for the French national team, where Evra occasionally had his nation captain.

Reports have also claimed that the midfielder offers offers from the Saudi Pro League and the Brazilian top flight to give themselves the best chance to make the Les Blues team for the 2026 World Cup.

The last competitive game of Pogba came for Juventus in September 2023, while he last played 90 minutes in March 2022 when he still turned out to be in front of the Red Devils.

In the meantime, his last match for France on March 29, 2022, a 5-0 friendly victory against South Africa, in what his 91st cap was for his nation.
