Paul Scholes and Jamie Carragher agree on Liverpool FA Cup exit but Man Utd icon fires warning

Liverpool now has 'more chance' to win the Premier League after their shock FA Cup exit, according to Paul Scholes and Jamie Carragher.

The Reds saw their hope for lifting an unprecedented quadruple four-fold in brutal style in the weekend to fall against a 1-0 defeat against Championship Side Plymouth. Nevertheless, the side of Arne Slot is still in an excellent position to lift silverware this term.

Liverpool is clearly at the top of the Premier League prior to the Hereside Derby on Wednesday. They are also in the final of the Carabao Cup and have booked an automatic place in the knockout rounds of the Champions League.

And Carragher believes that the clearer Liverpool calendar increases their chances of claiming the league title. The legendary former defender said about the overlap: “I actually think [Sunday] Was just a great day everywhere.

“Great for the FA Cup with the Giantkilling, great for Plymouth, and I think it is decent for Liverpool. The way I look at it gives Liverpool a better chance of winning the competition, and I think it does a percentage.

“I think in the FA Cup, certainly the semi -final and the final, you have to move [league games]. Where is it going? Where are they going? “

And while Manchester United Icon Scholes agrees with that suggestion, he gave Liverpool a warning. He believes that another adverse result against Everton could see their FA Cup exexit accept on another complexion.

He replied: “I agree with what you say about [Sunday] that it is probably a good thing [for Liverpool]But then you think of Momentum. You lose [to Argyle] And suddenly there is a little more pressure on you on Wednesday. If you drop points on Wednesday, you think of 'Oh dear'.

“That little momentum that you had when you're going to win and win in games … it practiced a bit on you, but I would say that you are probably better out.”

If Liverpool beat their fierce rivals Everton on Wednesday, many would have the feeling that they have one hand on their 20th top-flight title. A victory would see them extend their lead to nine points above Arsenal.

And that benefit could even continue to stretch even during the weekend if Mikel Arteta loses the side of the wrestling leicester on Sunday and Liverpool defeated wolves the next day.
