Benjamin Pavard says he “had great years in Bayern Munich”, but that he is now “in Inter Milan to win everything.”
The 29-year-old spoke with UEFA, via Fcinternews, prior to the quarterfinals of tomorrow evening between his current and former teams.
Pavard joined the summer of 2023.
The Frenchman arrived in Bayern Munich after four years.
Pavard had won a whole series of trophies while a Bayern player. These include the Bundesliga in every season he was in the club, as well as the Champions League in 2020.
But Pavard then decided that he needed a new challenge.
And Inter offered the 2018 World Cup winner the perfect opportunity.
Pavard has adapted very well to the role of wide middle back in Simone Inzaghi's 3-5-2 setup at the Nerazzurri.
And in his first season at the club Last Time Out, Pavard was a crucial player for the Nerazzurri when they won the Serie A title. That made it a series of five straight league titles in two countries for Pavard.
Benjamin Pavard will soon play in the Allianz Arena for the first time since leaving Bayern.
The 29-year-old admitted that “it is very emotional for me to face Bayern.”
“I spent four fantastic years in Munich,” he continued.
“But I can't think so now, because I now play for Inter. And I want to win in Germany.”
Benjamin Pavard then explained that “I knew I would like to play here in a three defense.”
“Because I wanted to play more in the middle of the line of defense.”
Then Pavard noted that “here is the password” giving and going. “
“That is something we often do. The coach gives us a lot of freedom as players.”
“Pavard then noticed that” I reflect someone who reflects and thinks more about the team. “
“It's true that they sometimes expect me to attack more,” added the French international. “But there are competitions in which I don't feel like it.”
“I prefer to stay back and make sure the team has balance.”
In the meantime, Pavard admitted that Inter “wants to go completely and win everything.”
“But we can't start thinking about the three trophies and all that.”
“Let's think about one competition at the same time. And then we will see what happens.”
“In any case,” said Pavard, “we will do everything we can.”
“We have the team, the staff and the coach to win as much as possible.” The Frenchman explained.
“This is the last sprint. And we have to play at our best.”
