Pedri calls on Barcelona to transfer Champions League form into La Liga matters

Barcelona star Pedri had a clear message for his teammates after their 1-0 La Liga defeat to Leganes.

The Catalan giants have now lost consecutive home league games and end the weekend top of the table only on goal difference ahead of Atletico Madrid.

With the gap closed to zero points, Barcelona's clash with Los Rojiblancos on December 21 will be crucial as the league leaders could change before early 2025.

Barcelona's domestic slump is a growing concern, with just one league win in their last six home games.

In contrast, their Champions League form has been fantastic, with five straight wins in Europe, and Pedri wants the team to channel that into the league in the second half of the season.

“We have to start games better. When such a team scores a goal against you away from home, they put a lot of players back in defense, but we still had chances,” Marca said.

“We have to be more clinical in front of goal if we want to win games. We have to improve in La Liga, we have had a bad run.

“We have a lot of games in a row, but that is no excuse. We have to finish games with the same confidence as in the Champions League.”

If Barcelona beat Atletico Madrid at home they will retain top spot at the start of 2025, but with less Real Madrid could overtake them if they beat Sevilla.
