Pep Guardiola compiles seven-player transfer wishlist in bid to save Man City’s season

Manchester City have drawn up a list of seven players with potential January signings that could help them turn their season around.

The Premier League champions recorded only their second win in fourteen games on Sunday with a victory over Leicester City. Pep Guardiola was relieved when he took three points, but has already written off his team's title chances.

The Catalan coach believes his team needs reinforcements due to the current injury situation, with players like Rodri ruled out. “We need help in some positions,” Guardiola said.

“When we are all together we are the team we were, but with key players away for weeks and months it is so difficult.

Guardiola added: “I thought centre-backs would be fit all season but we have struggled. With midfield and centre-backs we need help. The market is the market. It's not easy, it's expensive , so we'll see what the club can do.”

Mail Sport reports Joshua Kimmich, who is nearing the end of his contract at Bayern Munich, Atalanta's Ederson, Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton and Marc Guehi are all said to be considered to add more depth to Guardiola's offering.

It is also said that City could look to strengthen further. Liam Delap has been linked with the Citizens who have a buyback clause.

Eintracht Frankfurt's breakout superstar Omar Marmoush is also among those eligible following his 18 goals this season. Lille striker Jonathan David is another possibility after scoring 19 goals in 28 appearances for club and country.

Martin Zubimendi and Bruno Guimaraes have also been discussed at the Etihad Stadium, but January transfers are not expected for their pair. While Atletico Madrid's Pablo Barrios will not be chased despite the discussions.

City will get at least one newcomer in the form of Claudio Echeverri from River Plate. However, the 18-year-old is likely to spend the second half of the season in the squad after parting ways with Argentina.

Echeverri said: “Today I have to say goodbye to the club of my life, the club that I joined when I was very young and had many dreams to fulfill. River became my second home, the club that has helped me not only as a professional shaped but also as a person.

“I would like to thank the fans, teammates, coaching staff, directors and people who have worked at the club all these years. I would also like to thank my family and friends, without them none of this would have been the same. I will miss them and I will remain a fan wherever I am. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and see you soon.”
