Pep Guardiola was left frustrated after Kyle Walker went to the Hierarchy of Manchester City to insist on an exit of January of the club.
The defender of England joined AC Milan during the transfer window, after almost eight years in the Etihad Stadium that played under Guardiola. The Catalan coach would be disappointed that Walker chose to talk to Txiki Begiristain, who immediately approaches him.
It was reported that Guardiola had the feeling that his relationship was close enough with Walker, where he thought he would be open with him. The former boss of Bayern Munich believed that the former Spurs star would first come to him in such a situation, the athletics claimed.
The 34-year-old revealed that when he was Guardiola, it was not a comfortable conversation. Opening up his exit from Manchester City admitted his attachment to the club.
“When I spoke with Pep, it was not a very comfortable conversation – especially because of the respect we have done.
“What he won in Manchester City, I also won it. I like to think he knows what I am bringing to a dressing room, the atmosphere I create. City was my family – from the chefs to the cleaners, the kit men and physios I like to think I was fun.
“But it didn't go well there and I didn't play enough football. Hopefully I can play a little more here.”
Although Walker only got on loan from the club, the San Siro side would have an option to buy the veteran for less than £ 5 million. For his part, the 34-year-old seemed to suggest that his time in Manchester ended.
The defender is ready to take on a leading role in Italy. Walker joins a dressing room with people like Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham, and hopes that his experience can pay for dividends.
“It's what I have to do,” he said. “With my age and my experience I can pass on this message to the young person, but I can't do it alone.
“There are also other leaders, but perhaps there is a lack of trust. Consistency in results is needed. The coach has changed, but I believe that Conceição has good ideas, solid foundations to build the team.
“Sometimes discipline is needed that fire inside that should be transferred to others and that may be missing lately. I hope that rubs (Loftus-Cheek), Fik (Tomori) and Tammy (Abraham) can have faith in me. I hope That my teammates can follow me on the field.
