Pep Guardiola insists ‘I’m not good enough’

Pep Guardiola shockingly admitted he 'isn't good enough' as Manchester City 'get worse and worse' after defeat to Manchester United.

City have had a torrid run of late but found themselves taking the lead against their local rivals in the 87th minute.

But City inexplicably shot themselves in the foot when Bruno Fernandes' 88th-minute penalty was followed by a 90th-minute winner from man-of-the-match Amad Diallo, leaving City fifth in the league and their hopes on the title quickly faded.

“I'm not good enough, I'm not doing well,” Guardiola said in stunning fashion at his press conference.

'I'm the boss, the manager, I have to find solutions and so far I haven't done that. That's the reality.

'We want to play better and create opportunities. But at the moment that is not possible.'

City have won just once in their last eleven games in all competitions (beating Nottingham Forest) and lost eight games in that run.

'Unfortunately it happens more often this year. We gave away a lot of things,” Guardiola told Sky Sports.

“We're not nice in the way we played. Before it was so fluid, now we struggle for different reasons. Many defeats.

“We put everything into it and the game was almost over. They had more possession in the first half, but nothing special. We gave away two goals, very difficult.

'It is what it is. What can I say? We can't blame this player or that one, that's not it. 'Tis the season, a tough season.

'We didn't play at our best. We are not our best and we are struggling a bit.

'I don't think it was the heaviest defeat in nine years. Champions League defeats more difficult. But right now we need results to improve our mood.

'It's getting worse. I have to find the solution. So far I haven't found it and this is the truth.'

City struggled to create much after Josko Gvardiol's opener and that will hurt Guardiola after such a disappointing run of form.

As Guardiola tried to deflect blame from his players, City midfielder Bernardo Silva pointed the finger at the match.

“We deserved what happened,” Silva told Sky Sports.

'At this level, a match or two is bad luck. We can't say this is good or bad luck – 10 games isn't about that.

'Minute 87 in a derby, win 1-0 and our corner ends in a penalty for them. If we make these stupid decisions with three or four minutes to go, you deserve to pay for it.

'We have to look at ourselves. You can say, oh, it's a bit of bad luck, no. It's the decisions you make. Today we played in the last minute as if we were under 15.'
