Piers Morgan was furious with Mikel Arteta for not adding a striker on Deadline Day – claiming that he has an “inexplicable blind spot” that stops Arsenal.
The Gunners have not brought in firepower, which means that they have to work with what they have until the end of the season. The lack of a striker has been cited as a major problem for the outfit of North Londs, even though they are at the top again.
Arteta has largely played without a striker with Kai Havertz who operates like a false 9. The team sometimes cost that while they try to avoid a different season without a trophy under Arteta. The last time they landed silverware was back in 2020 when they landed the FA Cup.
The Arsenal striker options were further reduced when Gabriel Jesus was excluded with an ACL injury for the rest of the season. The Gunners are already out of the FA Cup, are confronted with a tough fight in the Carabao Cup and Trail Liverpool with a number of points while Morgan fears a new missed opportunity.
Morgan said on Monday evening: “I can't believe that Arsenal still hasn't drawn a top striker in this window. It is the constant inexplicable blind spot of Arteta and will stop winning big trophies. Do something, Mick!”
Havertz is currently the top scorer of the team, which is in the point 15 times in all competitions, but only nine teams in the competition. It means that no Arsenal players have reached double digits in the Premier League. In the meantime, Liverpool has been Mohamed Salah on 21 goals this period.
The Gunners have been associated with people like Alexander Isak, but getting large deals across the line halfway through the season can be difficult to be difficult and Arsenal is not able to add to their team despite a desire to do this.
Arteta, after the Noord -Londense Derby a few weeks ago, was asked if Arsenal would try to secure a new striker for the end of January and answered: “We will certainly try. We are actively watching at [a new forward]. I think we have lost two very, very important players, we have 14 players in the team and we play every three days. We will try, but let's see who we can get. “
Arsenal showed their ability to score goals on Sunday when they reached five past Manchester City. They have often produced impressive screenings, but there is an increased question to eventually see the team over the line and to add them to their trophy cabinet.
