PL star ‘better than Odegaard’ told why he should snub Man Utd transfer

Brentford star Mikkel Damsgaard has been encouraged to move to Manchester United by ex-red devil star Paul Parker, who says that the Danish star must “hesitate” over a move to Old Trafford.

This season, Damsgaard has been one of the unfortunate heroes of the Premier League with a number of fantastic creative displays in midfield that went under the radar.

The 24-year-old scored three goals and helped ten in the top flight under Thomas Frank this season, including three assists in his last six games, and the heads are starting to go for an expected transport this summer.

His versions led to speculation that United could take a step for him at the end of the season, but former player Parker – who played more than 100 times for the club between 1991 and 1996 – urged him not to join the men of Ruben Amorim.

Instead, he suggested that Damsgaard could join Arsenal – after claiming that he had a much better season than their most important playmaker Martin Odegaard.

“I can certainly understand whether clubs are standing in line to sign him,” he told SpilXperten. “Arsenal would really be a creative player like he could use. He has been considerably better this season than Odegaard, and the rest of their midfield is not nearly creative enough.”

Parker admitted that Damsgaard would be a good fit for United and suggested that he could push further forward, so that Bruno Fernandes could drop a little deeper – but said he had to stay “far away” from the club and they called “Circus United” in the midst of their turbulent season that they saw them fall into the Premier League.

“Manchester United could also use him in the attacking midfield roll, and he would of course immediately go to the starting line -up. Garnacho and Zirkzee played that position a lot, but they are downright useless. Fernandes is the only creative midfielder, and he could be well linked with Damsaard.

“If I was Damsgaard, however, I would really hesitate before I signed at Manchester United. He can just ask his Danish friends if they would like to be in the club. They would probably say no and advise him to stay far away from 'Circus United'.”

Damsgaard has made 86 performances for Brentford since he came to Side A Side Sampdoria for about £ 12.5 million in 2022 and scored three times so far.

He turned his heads during a number of excellent displays at Euro 2020, where he scored twice for Denmark to help them reach the semi-final before giving a free kick in the 2-1 defeat against England.
