Plymouth announce Muslic as Rooney’s successor

Plymouth Argyle have announced the appointment of Miron Muslic as Wayne Rooney's successor at Home Park.

The Austrian, who was fired by Belgian side Cercle Brugge last month, has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with the bottom club of the Championship.

The 42-year-old will become the first foreign head coach in Plymouth's history and will take charge of his first match on Tuesday when the Pilgrims host Oxford United.

“Miron had a clear vision of how he wanted to take Argyle forward and showed a deep tactical awareness that highlighted exactly how he wanted the team to line up and play,” Plymouth chairman Simon Hallett told the club's official website.

“He gets rave reviews for his time at Cercle Brugge, where he took a team from a low position in the league to European football, which is no mean feat.

“I would like to welcome him to the club and look forward to seeing him make an immediate impact on the team.”
