Mauricio Pochettino has told his players from the United States that they cannot choose and choose when they will be available for the national side.
After comments from Christian Pulisic, who offered to play in two international friendly competitions, even though they want to be equipped for the Concacaf Gold Cup.
Pulisic confirmed that he had asked to play in an interview with CBS Sports in the friendly US matches against Turkiye and Switzerland on Thursday.
The US was reported in both defeats and lost the former 2-1 for a tough 4-0 defeat, which extended their losing series to four games. They have now suffered four consecutive defeats in home for the first time since June 1988.
Pulisic has earned 78 caps for his country and scored 32 goals at the time.
However, he was not admitted to those competitions, because Pochettino wanted a consistent team in the tournament, a decision that Pulisic said he respected but “did not understand”.
But Pochettino responded to those claims on Saturday and noticed that it was up to him, not the players, if he wanted them in his team.
“Players [do] Does not have to understand or not understand, “said Pochettino Saturday.” Players must listen and stay with our plan. They cannot dictate the plan.
“The most important thing is that we explained why we decided not to record [him] In the two friendly games.
“If you have some problems, no, that's not my problem to understand. I am the head coach; I am not a mannequin.”
