Paul Pogba's exile from football could end with DC United in discussions to bring the former player of Manchester United to the MLS after the end of his doping ban
Paul Pogba has held conversations with DC United about possibly becoming a member of the MLS outfit. The Frenchman is looking for a new club after a long period from the game after a ban on doping.
Pogba was in Juventus' books when he brought back a positive test and has been without a club since he was employed by his ban. Despite the fact that he spends his entire career in Europe, the former Ster Manchester United entertains the prospect of playing in the United States.
It is 20 months since Pogba last played competitive, but the MLS outfit seems to land its services, reports the Washington Post. DC United has Pogba's MLS Discovery Rights that prevents other teams in the competition to negotiate with him.
Wayne Rooney led the team earlier during a short stint and, if Pogba Pen put on paper on a deal, he would eventually be confronted with Inter Miami and Lionel Messi, given that the conference is rivals.
A return to football in the United States has long been discussed for the Frenchman, who has been seen in various MLS stadiums throughout the year.
Pogba's career has seen him play for United and Juventus twice. He first made his name in Manchester before he chose signing a new deal as a young person and on his way to Italy to pursue regular playing time. His stock stood up enormously and the attention of those in Old Trafford noticed.
They spent a club record compensation to bring it back in 2016 when Jose Mourinho was at the helm, but during his second Stint he was regularly criticized and left for nothing when his contract ended. At that moment he chose to go back to Italy with Juventus.
While he occasionally struggled at club level, Pogba regularly influenced the international stage. With Les Bleus he won the World Cup in 2018, but that remains one of the few trophies he has won in recent years. His last club Eer came back in 2017 in Manchester.
The midfielder has underlined his wish to return to the institution of France and tells Sky Sports: “I hope. It is certainly in my mind. I have to be ready. There are players who earn it to play and I have to win my place. I am ready to fight.”
