Portugal boss Martinez thinks ‘very little details’ will decide Germany clash

Roberto Martinez thinks that “very few details” will be the difference when his Portugal side Germany encounters in the semi-final of the Nations League on Wednesday.

A Selecao Das Quinas is for the first time since winning the inaugural event in 2019 for the first time in the last four in the Final Four and wants to become the first several winners of the tournament.

The European Champions 2016 are confronted with a difficult test against hosts Germany for the right to play France or Spain in Sunday's showpiece.

And Martinez believes that little margins will determine the outcome of the game in the Allianz Arena, where he knows that home advantage will play a crucial part.

“It is no greater than the challenge to stand in front of Germany, just because of the team they are,” he said reporters.

“I think [Julian Nagelsmann] Does a very interesting task to bring clear ideas that whoever is the player, he exports to perfection, which is a great power.

“Then the second challenge is to play away from home on their land. We saw it in the quarterfinals; we saw that only one home team lost from the eight games.

“That is something that we have to overcome and ensure that we use the support of more than 10,000 Portuguese fans that we will have here.

“We want to be a team that can take risks against Germany. I think it will be a great game. There will be a lot of action in both boxes, and it goes to very few details.”

Portugal has not defeated Germany since Euro 2000 – when Sergio Concukicao scored a hat trick in a 3-0 win – then lose the five most recent meetings.

Bruno Fernandes has challenged his teammates to create “new history” when they enter the field in Munich.

“We have players who can make heroic efforts and, if a player has a moment of inspiration, we can win the game,” said Manchester United's midfielder. “But we know how difficult we have to work to beat Germany.

'It's time to change that. We have a new Concukicao [Francisco] Also in the team, so who knows? It is clear that we want to win the game. History is in the past and we just want to write a new one [piece of] History for us. “
