Postecoglou admits pressure will be on him if Spurs’ results do not improve

Ange Postecoglou has admitted it will be exciting if Tottenham are still mid-table at Christmas.

Due to the defeat at home to Ipswich in the previous defeat, Spurs are in tenth place in the Premier League on Saturday evening, as they travel to Manchester City on Saturday evening.

“If we had beaten Ipswich we would have been third,” boss Postecoglou said.

'So I don't let one outcome define my life. I look from a broader perspective because I know how fickle it can be, but we certainly need to reconsider our position.

'If we come tenth at Christmas, yes, that won't be great. Rightly so, there would be a lot of scrutiny, and probably a lot of scrutiny around me, which is fair enough, but that's not where I want to be.”

The trip to City is the first of nine games in thirty days for Spurs and they will play it without injured defenders Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

Rodrigo Bentancur will begin a seven-match ban for racially aggravated comments about teammate Son Heung-min, but Tottenham have appealed in the hope of having the sentence reduced.

“I don't care about appearance,” Postecoglou said when asked about the optics of the call.

'He says he made a mistake. We accept any punishment that comes our way. We think the first one was a bit harsh, so we appealed, and that's our right.”
