Postecoglou hits back at ‘negative agenda’ around Tottenham

Ange Postecoglou has returned to critics for what he sees as a constant negativity towards Tottenham – and promised to continue to fight for how long he is in charge of the club.

Growing Spurs in 14th place in the Premier League after a disappointing season, with glory in the Europa League their only chance to end the season positively. They organize Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday in the first stage of their quarterfinals.

Negative rumors came to a peak when Postecoglou was asked about a discussion between Brennan Johnson and Mathys Tel about that Sunday would take a late penalty against Southampton.

Tel scored to achieve a 3-1 victory, but the Australian was angry due to a observed shift to a negative story after a positive day before his side.

“We scored, we won. Pleased. It's incredible, it's just … literally gold changes to c *** when it's Tottenham, “said Postecoglou.

'Serious. If we are 2-1 against Frankfurt and get a penalty in the last minute, I want the best penalty contractor to take it.

'The mentality of the winner in the last minute of the game is to score a goal. We scored a goal. And yet in one way or another in this ultimate universe where everything Tottenham does is wrong, it comes out as negative. '

The future of Postecoglou has been under the microscope for months, with speculation that the time of the 59-year-old in the club will probably end this summer.

However, he stated that he would not use negativity as a motivation to beat Frankfurt.

'I think someone has written that even if we win it, I am gone anyway. That is not trying, that only says the general sentiment of people. So if you try to use that as a motivation, you won't win that.

“There must be more to us and for us what is most important as a group is that we have experienced it really difficult, but we are still in a position where we can have an impact – and you don't know how often you get those opportunities.”
