Ange Postecoglou tributed to a “disciplined” Brennan Johnson display after his brace in the 3-1 victory of Tottenham Hotspur in Southampton.
Spurs ended a series of four consecutive Premier League matches without a victory, while he confirmed the relegation of their opponents to the championship.
Johnson scored twice in the first half in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and took his competition about the season in double digits, the third time he did this in his career.
He is also the first Spurs player who scores 15 or more goals in all competitions in a season, except for Harry Kane or son Heung-Min, since Gareth Bale in 2020-21 (also 16).
The International in Wales was also polluted for the penalty that led Mathys Tel to seal the victory from the place, and Postecoglou greeted his performance.
“He is always a target threat and he is important to us,” Postecoglou told Spursplay. “He is just so disciplined because he is always in the right areas, and the areas we need to be.
“Sometimes I feel that we are abandoning him by not being disciplined with our football in the front third, because he is always there.
“His general game was really good, not just his goals, so I'm really happy for him.”

The victory of Spurs was on time for their Europa League quarterfinals first stage against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday.
The hosts were worthy winners in the game and ended the game with an expected goals (XG) a total of 2.21 of their 13 shots to Southampton's 1.04 of their 12 attempts.
“I thought the first half was excellent. We were really disciplined, really well organized. We always watched a threat in the future,” Postecoglou added.
“That is probably just as threatening as we have looked. We scored two goals and had not allowed one.
“The second half, not so much. We got too passive without the ball, and not aggressive enough with the ball – we didn't keep as well as we should.
“I think it was important today. To achieve a victory, achieve some goals and get some positivity about the place.”
