Tottenham's injury crisis has worsened after Ben Davies suffered a setback in training, potentially leaving Ange Postecoglou without a fit centre-back for Sunday's visit to Wolves.
Spurs were already without Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Davies for Thursday's 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest, but their problems were compounded when Radu Dragusin limped off with an ankle problem.
Postecoglou spoke of the need to enter the January transfer market to solve some of the squad's long-standing problems, with up to nine players injured and Djed Spence now suspended after being sent off against Forest: “We're walking a fine line. .
“There have always been problems at various times but not to this extent. I think we have almost consistently had ten first-team players unavailable for a significant stretch of games. Definitely a first for me. We are in a difficult situation.” place and we have been there for a while.
“We have been working on it for a while and we keep our fingers crossed that there will be no more problems.
“[Transfer policy] can be disciplined, but we need a clear picture of where we stand. There is a need to strengthen if we can, but it is not an easy time to do so during this period.
“The club is working hard behind the scenes to help the players we have, who give everything in every game to help us get through.
“We need to help some of these guys because there are at least two or three who have long-term injuries, so we'll talk about that briefly. Others come back and need time to get up to speed. We are working hard to get reinforcements.”
Asked whether Yves Bissouma – who finished the game against Forest at centre-back – could feature as a stopgap defender against Wolves, he added: “Yves has never played there so I'm not sure why I would put him there. to see.”
Guglielmo Vicario, Van de Ven, Romero, Davies, Spence, Mikey Moore, Wilson Odobert and Richarlison are confirmed absentees for Sunday's Premier League match.
