Ange Postecoglou has addressed Leyton Orient Manager Richie Wellens after he had made a Jibe opposite the Tottenham boss last Saturday.
Orient fell through Stockport on a 1-0 defeat and when he was asked during an interview after the match or injuries had contributed to the loss, Wellens said: “I am not Ange Postecoglou, keep using it as an excuse.”
Wellens has since apologized for his remark and has admitted that he is 'deeply ashamed' and that it was a 'stupid remark'.
While Spurs is preparing for Aston Villa in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday, their absent list was able to sit at a Premier League-High 11 players.
When asked whether Wellen's contact had been to apologize personally, Postecoglou was conservative with his words and implied that the Orient -Baas had his minutes of fame.
“He had his five minutes, that's good enough for me,” he said.
Postecoglou was then asked whether fans and experts might start to get tired of the story that Tottenham is not being laid out by their injury.
Spurs has passed a nightmare campaign in the Premier League and slip to the 14th in the table after 13 defeats of 24 games.
In the course of the season, Postecoglou has been forced to chop and change his side, touched with injuries to various important defenders, including Micky Van de Ven, Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie.
“I don't know how it is a story if you only say facts,” said the Aussie.
'If people don't see a situation in which you miss something important, I can't say anything about it. If they say: “Well, that shouldn't really make a difference,” I don't know how to answer that.
'I get that people's senses become dull or people are bored – everyone wants a little drama. But that is not a drama, that is only mentioned.
'We have been missing a number of really important players for a long time and have had to deal with it. Whether people see that as important or not … If people think I am trying to make a story out of nothing, I don't know what to say about it. '
Postecoglou added: 'As far as other managers are concerned, he is [Wellens] Had his five minutes, so let's continue. '
Spurs, who have a close relationship with Orient, sent Academy stars Jamie Donley and Josh Keeley to the League One-Club for a seasonal loan at the start of the campaign.
Former Tottenham captain Harry Kane also completed a loan spell early in his career, while Spurs -women regularly play their home games on the Road of Orient's Brisbane.
Orient has only defeated Spurs twice in their club history – once in 1909 and most recently in 1985.
Spurs has won 10, three signed and only lost two games on the Eastern side during the 116 years that they have confronted opposite each other.
