Postecoglou: Tottenham ‘defended as well as we have all season’ in Brentford win

Ange Postecoglou said that Tottenham “and we defended the entire season” during their 2-0 win over Brentford, an “excellent effort” greetings by his players.

Spurs claimed their first Premier League victory since December 15 – while ending a point of four consecutive defeats – in the Gtech Community Stadium.

Vitaly Janelt changed the first half of the first half of Son Heung-Min to his own network, while Pape Sarr without a doubt the result three minutes from the time.

Although Brentford 38 crosses registered with the nine of the visitors, the side of Postecoglou limited their opponents to only four shots on goal, while Yoane Wissa hit the woodwork early in the second half.

And Postecoglou tributed to his players, who only recorded their fifth Premier League -clean sheet of the campaign.

“It is always a challenge here, especially at home, [Brentford] are hard to beat, “he said.”[We] I needed a great effort again today. We did that in it, they had many set pieces and we treated them very well.

“I think we have defended just as well as the entire season, and we still had the quality to put them the other way. Excellent effort from the players.

“I don't think they had many clear opportunities. There were many balls in the box, but when you throw them out of the touchline, you can't avoid that.

“I thought the boys really treated that part really well. Great football and credit to the boys.”

Archie Gray, who became the second-year-old player who started 10 Premier League matches for Spurs after 18 years and 327 days old, hopes that they can build Momentum after their moral reinforcement of the victory.

“It is clear that it is a huge victory,” he told Premier League Productions. “We were in a difficult time. We still have a lot of games to prove that we can wear this winning form, so it's important.

“Sometimes this season, just five minutes, we lost the concentration. As soon as that goal has entered, we knew that we could not make the same mistakes. Once we arrived the half time, we thought we had to continue to discipline for the second half .

“It was really a good clean slate, and hopefully we can keep it going.”

Brentford had 20 shots and 2.29 expected goals (XG) against Spurs, both of which are their highest totals in a Premier League match where they have not scored.

Brentford -Baas Thomas Frank greeted Tottenham's defensive efforts while the bees had the feeling that they had a fifth defeat in six home games in all games.

“We have done many things well, but we have to ask what we could do more,” he said. “Many things did not fall for us.

“We have made a lot, produced more than 30 crosses, 20 shots, but we didn't make enough opportunities, we had many half chances. It's up to a very good defense, perhaps the best defense of their box all season.

“Sometimes one goal decides a bit. They scored from a set piece. On the other hand, we don't score one of our set pieces. If we were in front, it might be a different game.”
