West Ham boss Graham Potter felt that his side earned even more of their 1-1 draw with Aston Villa, coming from behind to secure a point in Villa Park on Sunday.
Jacob Ramsey had given the hosts the lead with a great goal early, but the Hammers hit back through Emerson's brilliant header 20 minutes than time.
The visitors threatened to grab a late winner, with Danny Inings some widely shot before the influential Lucas Paqueta had excluded a goal for offside in the interruption time.
It was the first time that a side managed by Potter had avoided a defeat at the first time in a Premier League match since October 2022 (Chelsea 2-1 Crystal Palace).
Prior to Sunday's draw, the New West Ham manager had lost each of his last nine games when he had seen his team the opener, and he was happy with their last display.
“I think the implementation might earn more. We played well after the first 15 minutes,” Potter told BBC match of the day.
“We have tried to win the ball back. It is a reward for the show we received today.
“We wanted our wing backs to be more aggressive with their movement, what they did. It is really pleasant in general that the team looks ready to fight.
“This is the first week we had as a training week. We have to continue, we are in the beginning.”
With injuries to Jarrod Bowen, Mikhail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug, Potter Paqueta used a false nine against Villa, who turned out to be an inspired change in the game.
The Brazilian was unable to get his name on the score sheet, but impressed by his all-round competition and won a joint-team-high 11 duels (level with Mohammed Kudus).
He also registered more shots (three) than all his teammates, while only Kudus and Tomas Soucek (nine) had more accents in the opposition box than Paqueta (seven).
“He [Paqueta] Was a real handful. You can play it because he is so strong, “Potter added.” I am really happy for him, it was really a good achievement. “
Villa lost 1,39-0.79 in the expected statistics of the expected goals (XG), after he had led to that statistics during the break, while after the break the hosts also knew only six shots to the nine of West Ham.
Villa has not succeeded in winning four of the 11 Premier League matches that they were the first to score in this season (W7 D2 L2), more than in the 19 games that they opened the score in the last term (W16 D2 L1).
The side of Unai Emery is clearly marked after their midweek Champions League exploits and has to recapture some energy prior to Wednesday's crucial draw with Celtic.
“We started the second part of the season with two wins and two draws. We are very ambitious, and we want more,” Emery said about the result.
“We have to continue and concentrate on Wednesday, recover some players and try to use the last week in the transfer window. We have to get our performance. We want to play in Europe.
“They pushed and stepped into our box and scored one goal. We did not feel strong or have the fresh legs to recover or dominate or try to score. We have circumstances such as Tyrone Mings' injury, and we don't have that A real middle behind “
Emery gave an update about Mings, who hobbled with a worrying knee injury on only his 11th appearance after returning a dismissal of 14 months.
The Spaniard said: “I don't know. Tomorrow we will test him and hopefully it's not much. Dulang who punishes us.”
