Spain wants to secure the victory over the Netherlands that they have to book their place in the semi-final of the UEFA Nations League, after the 2-2 draw of Thursday in Rotterdam. La Roja are regular favorites to secure their progression in the Mestalla Stadium of Valencia, although it is not certain that they will see the side of Ronald Koeman.
It was a mixed version from Spain on Thursday, with goals from Nico Williams and Mikel Merino who masked a rather disappointing defensive representation. Nevertheless, it is not expected that they are significant changes from the side set up in De Kuip.
As reported by Marca, it is expected that it is only one change from the Spain side that started in Rotterdam, and it is forced. Pau Cubarsi withdrew from the team on Friday after he had had a blow to his ankle during the first stage, so he will not play a part in Valencia – and rather surprising, his replacement is expected to be Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio, instead of Dean Huijsen.
Asencio was completely omitted from the team for Thursday's game, with De La Fuente prefer Huijsen as his back-up center-back. However, he will be admitted on his occasion, with a further report from Marca that says that Mario Gila, ayoze Perez (who is suspended) and Yeremy Pino will be the three players who miss on this occasion.
As far as visitors are concerned, it is also assumed that they are planning only one change that is also forced. Jorrel Hato will be suspended after his red card in the first stage, and his replacement is expected to see former La Masia star Xavi Simons his-Dit in the defense, with Lutsharel Geertruida who goes to the left.
It should be a compelling watch at the Mestalla. Spain are favorites to continue their defense of the Nations League, although the Netherlands is more than able to cause a shock.
