Manchester United and Marcus Rashford are on their way to a divorce, and it is the conditions of that divorce that must be decided. The Red Devils want to make the deal permanent, but the vooragers of Rashford are more interested in a loan as the things are.
Aston Villa, where Rashford spent the second half of last season on loan, was also interested in retaining him, but the International of England has so far rejected their claims. His preference seems to be a move to Barcelona.
According to appropriate offside, Newcastle United has now taken a step for Rashford. They have rejected an offer of € 52.7 million by Nottingham Forest for Anthony Elanga, and are now changing their attention to Rashford. That said, despite the asking price of United € 47 million cheaper than their bid for Elanga, the Magpies prefer a loan movement for Rashford.
So far it seems that Rashford is as good as the word of the Catalan media: he is willing to keep a move to Barcelona. Their priority for the summer transfer window is Nico Williams, and Rashford was seen as an alternative to the cut price. More recently, however, it has been claimed that the two deals do not exclude each other, and Rashford could be an alternative due to the middle in contrast to the left wing.
It seems very unlikely that Barcelona could afford to register Rashford and Williams if they permanently signed the Manchester United man. A loan with an option to buy is the preferred formula for the Blaugrana, and recently Joan Fontes referred to Rashford, which implies that negotiations were 'hot, hot'.
Certainly, the competition would be there for Rashford. There were times this season that, despite the 42 goals from Robert Lewandowski, the question was asked whether Ferran Torres was better suited for the Hansi Flick system. Perhaps the more curious part of a movement for Rashford would be that after a successful season for Torres he would essentially be left behind to perform it with Rashford for playing time.
