The Premier League season of 2024/25 ends on Sunday and despite the title and relegation that has already been decided, there is still plenty to play on the last day
There is only one round of games to go in the Premier League season 2024/25. The current campaign ends on Sunday, with Liverpool ready to finally hoist the trophy in the air.
The Reds compete against Crystal Palace in Anfield before they cancel the title for the first time in a generation for supporters. Away from the race for the title, the relegation struggle has long been decided, with Ipswich, Leicester and Southampton all ready for an immediate return to the championship.
And although both ends of the table are packed, there is still enough to play for, especially when it comes to European places. As it looks now, it can be as low as the eighth place is sufficient for a place in Europe next season.
There are also a number of clubs that shoot for a place in the Champions League, where the Premier League has sealed an extra place in the competition for next season. With all that said, take a look at what every club needs for a Champions League place and what can happen to what looks like an exciting last afternoon:
Liverpool and Arsenal are already two of the Champions League representatives of the Premier League for next season thanks to their functions. They will be accompanied by Tottenham after they have won the Europa League against Manchester United.
Arsenal will be Rubberstamp second with at least one point against degraded Southampton at St Mary's. Manchester City could still catch up with them, but must first concentrate on the Champions League, where a victory over Fulham would secure their berth.
Win well and there is an external chance that they could jump the side of Mikel Arteta, although they also need the Gunners to lose and destroy a shortage of eight goals on target difference in the process.
A draw may be sufficient if one of Newcastle, Chelsea and Aston Villa does not win. In the meantime, City could also return to the Champions League with a defeat if the results go their way.
Newcastle had long been guaranteed their place in the European competition, with their EFL Cup success that secured a place in the Conference League. But they want more than that and even Eddie Howe has admitted that they would not return to the Champions League a disappointment.

They are currently fourth in the table. A win against Everton on the last day would guarantee a Champions League place, while a draw can also be sufficient if two of Chelsea, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest do not win.
Chelsea has the small issue of a European final to look forward to Wednesday, and if they beat real betis, that would guarantee a Europa League spot. But just like Newcastle, they want more and also love the Magpies Enzo Maresca on 66 points. But they assume the direct Rivals Nottingham Forest in what could be a winner-tags.
A victory against the side of East Midlands would guarantee them a place in the Champions League. A draw could be enough for Chelsea if Villa does not win against Manchester United on the last day.
Villa is the third side on 66 points – albeit with a worse goal difference. They know exactly what is needed, they just have to improve one of the results of Man City, Newcastle or Chelsea on the last day at Old Trafford.
However, Forest's task is slightly more difficult. They have to beat Chelsea on the last day and hope that one of Man City, Newcastle or Villa Drop Points. If that does not happen, Forest will end outside the spots of the Champions League – albeit still with a place in Europe.
