Premier League Predictions and best bets: Manchester United can beat Southampton without conceding

Our betting expert Jones Knows is positive about both Ipswich and Manchester United this evening. How does he plan to make a profit?

Ipswich – Brighton, Thursday 7.30pm

Ipswich's spike in form will worry the likes of Everton and Wolves. If Kieran McKenna's side continue to rack up points at their current pace, the teams above may have to reach the 35+ points mark to be safe – it didn't look that way at one point.

Teams are now looking over their shoulders.

And I was surprised by Ipswich's price for this one, where with Sky Bet you can get 4/5 on the double chance and 5/2 on the home win.

Brighton are an easy team to frustrate, as evidenced by their run of eight without a win in the Premier League, drawing against Leicester, West Ham and Southampton in that series. Ipswich is the bet.

SCORE PREDICTION: 2-1

Manchester United – Southampton, Thursday 8pm

The noise surrounding Ruben Amorim and Manchester United is so exaggerated. And this isn't me as an 'aftertimer' after their performance at Liverpool and the penalty shootout win over Arsenal.

I have written positively about them and tipped them to win at Liverpool due to signs of positivity in their underlying process behind the sticky results. The markets have overreacted.

Under Amorim it is a more difficult team to play against than under Ten Hag and he has now realized who he can and cannot trust in his starting eleven.

The expected objectives based on the data point to this in terms of offering fewer quality opportunities.

They hold the ball with more confidence, which deters teams from launching attacks on their goal, while out of possession when pressing into the final third, they regain possession with a higher strike rate.

They looked stable and cohesive as a defensive unit. I like the zero price of 6/5 with Sky Bet against such a tame Saints outfit.

SCORE PREDICTION: 3-0
