The Premier League has released a statement about the controversial non -compound goal of Aston Villa.
Villa thought they had left Manchester United on the last day of the season at the front in their crunch collision.
Morgan Rogers poked the ball away from United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir before he ended in an open just after the header of Harry Maguire.
But referee Thomas Bramall blew his whistle before the ball crossed the line.
He thought Rogers had kicked the ball out of the hands of Bayindir and therefore awarded a free kick against the Villa man.
However, repetitions showed that Bayindir did not have the ball under control and the goal should have been.
However, the laws of the game state that a goal cannot be granted afterwards after the whistle has been blown – even if it is wrongly done.
VAR briefly viewed the incident.
But that was only to confirm that the whistle had gone before the goal was scored – causing the officials to be hindered.
And the Premier League statement clarified the situation.

Their competition center account tweeted during the United vs Villa competition: “72” – The call from the referee was a free kick to Manchester United with Bayindir who had the ball under control before Rogers got possessed.
“The whistle was blown by the referee before the ball entered the goal, so the incident was not too revising by the VAR.”
To rub salt in the wounds for Villa – who stood in fifth place at the time of the referee – United went out and scored the opener by Amad Diallo.
A penalty from Christian Eriksen sealed a 2-0 home victory, because Villa had to settle for sixth and the Champions League missed on a target difference behind Newcastle – who lost to Everton at home.
