Barcelona is open to allowing Ansu Fati or Andreas Christensen leaves the rest of the season on loan, with both starving opportunities for the rest of the season. Although the Danish defender has been adamant to have stayed in Barcelona in recent months, he is said to have doubts about his role in the team.
Christensen, 28, has been out since the second game of the season due to a tendon problem from Achilles, and although he was declared suitable a few weeks ago, he still has to come back in action. On Tuesday he then ran a Soleus injury that will keep him outside for another three weeks.
However, with Ronald Araujo and Eric Garcia, both started in Barcelona in January, and Inigo Martinez and Pau Cubarsi have established options in the backline, but there are doubts about how many playing time Christensen will receive in the second half of the season. According to The Independent, Brentford is trying to persuade Christensen to put on loan for the rest of the season, where he can restore his fitness and regular playing time.
In theory, Christensen is planning to fight for his place in Barcelona, but the Catalan side will be open to the deal, because saving on his salary would enable them to borrow before the end of the transfer window. Moreover, Thomas Frank, Christian Norgaard, Mathias Jensen and Mikkel Damsgaard are all countrymen from Christensen, who can help a movement. Before his injury, sport claimed that Christensen was more likely to move than Fati, between interest from Brentford and Juventus.
It is not yet clear how his last injury will influence things because their conversations with Christensen were in progress before he was excluded after today's training session. Christensen can also play in midfield, which could give him more opportunities under Hansi film, although he would have to take those minutes from Garcia again.
