Presnel Kimpembe ‘frustrated’ at PSG situation

For the first time since suffering a serious Achilles injury in February 2023, Presnel Kimpembe (29) was included in the matchday squad to face Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League in midweek. It therefore came as a surprise that the Frenchman, on the road to recovery, was completely left out of the Paris Saint-Germain squad to play against FC Nantes on Saturday. The player himself was also surprised and frustrated by the situation, L'Équipe reports.

Internally, Kimpembe has said he is fully ready to return to the first team, while medical tests have confirmed the France international is ready to resume his playing career after a serious layoff. The defender is keen to return to the league but his manager, Luis Enrique, has repeatedly indicated that Kimpembe is still in the recovery phase.

Kimpembe, who has been told by PSG's medical staff that he is ready to play, did not understand his omission from the squad to face Nantes as he was included against Bayern Munich. The defender has expressed his “frustration” about the situation to several people at the Ligue 1 club. It is a situation that Kimpembe finds difficult to understand, which causes fractures and tensions.
