PSG have ‘grown so much’, says Luis Enrique ahead of Arsenal showdown

Paris Saint-Germain has “grown” so much “grown” in the course of the campaign, says Luis Enrique.

PSG gastheer Arsenal on Wednesday in the second stage of their semi-final tie from Champions League, with 1-0 of the first stage.

While PSG Kylian Mbappe lost on a free transfer to Real Madrid last year, they drove to the Ligue 1 title, a club record 30 games were undefeated and this period had the chance to win a Treble.

According to the OPTA supercomputer, PSG has an 80% chance to continue with the final of the Champions League, while the Luis Enrique team is also made the favorites to win the tournament, with a probability of 42% of that.

PSG is the second highest score team in Europe's top five competitions in all competitions this period, with their 135 ranking behind only Barca's 160, and Luis Enrique is pleased with how his team has been demanded.

“This season we have grown as much as a team,” he said.

“You have to be ready for every scenario and pay attention from start to finish. The goal for the coming years is to keep improving the process.”

Ousmane Dembele scored the decisive goal in Emirates Stadium last week, and the attacker will be suitable to appear in the Parc des Princes after he had picked up an injury.

“He has been training with the team for two days, so he is available for tomorrow,” said Luis Enrique.

This season Dembele scored 33 goals in all competitions, with eight of those in the Champions League. Only Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored more in one campaign for PSG in the competition (10 in 2013-14).

Defender Achraf Hakimi meanwhile emphasized that PSG should have home advantage count.

“The key is to show our personality with and without the ball and pressure,” said Hakimi. “Arsenal will have to feel that the Parc des Princes is our home.”

The only last performance of PSG's only Champions League ended in the defeat by Bayern Munich in 2020, while the only final of Arsenal was in 2006 when they lost Barcelona in Paris.

“We will have to be as good as last week, but although many expect the same kind of game, I guarantee you it will be completely different,” Luis Enrique said.
