PSG players ‘shocked by how POOR Liverpool were’ despite 1-0 loss

PSG players were reportedly shocked by the poor level of the performance of Liverpool in the first stage of their Champions League round of 16 draw on Wednesday evening.

Despite the domination of the procedure on the side of Arne Slot in the Parc des Princes, the Reds escaped from the French capital with a 1-0 win thanks to the strike of Harvey Elliott with just three minutes to play.

But the men of Luis Enrique would have been surprised by the lack of quality of their opposition – the name of two other Champions League parties that they think are more complete.

Players are 'obsessed' with the second stage in Anfield while they want to make up for their waste in the first stage, according to L'Equipe.

They also emphasized that they felt more comfortable against Liverpool than in matches against Arsenal and Bayern Munich – both that they lost in the first competition phase of the competition.

Some also raised eyebrows about what they considered unnecessary waste of time by the MerseSiders – a trick that is refuted by defender Virgil van Dijk.

In an interview after the game, Van Dijk, who was booked before that, said: “I didn't feel that we were a waste of time, we just tried to play the game, but it was clear when the game passed that a draw was the best possible result for us.”

Liverpool was tested several times by a PSG side that could not get control of the draw – despite the home team with 27 shots on goal and 71% owned.

In the meantime, the Premier League leaders succeeded in scoring through Elliott with their only shot on goal, because the Parisians were punished for their debauchery in the event of attack.

Liverpool also has to thank goalkeeper Alisson, because the Brazilian produced a series of fine stops to keep his beer level before they let go.

After the return of the return bone at Anfield, it will let the tie next week, with PSG who has to win at night to make the chance of progress.

Prior to the second stage of this intriguing meeting, Liverpool is back in action in the Premier League on Saturday, when she is struggling with Southampton.

If the Reds win, they will move 16 points from the second place Arsenal, who will visit Manchester United in Old Trafford on Sunday.
