Ousmane Dembele has been named the Champions League player of the season before 2024-25, after he had helped Paris Saint-Germain to their first European crown.
Dembele enjoyed a wonderful campaign when PSG won the Treble, with the side of Luis Enrique who followed their Ligue 1 and Coupe de France successes by rousting Inter 5-0 in the Champions League final of Saturday.
That is the most extensive victory margin ever included in a European cup/Champions League final, and although Dembele did not come to the score sheet, he achieved assists for Desire Done and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
That made him the first player to give two assists in a Champions League final since Marcelo for Real Madrid in 2018, in the 3-1 victory of Los Blancos over Liverpool.
In the meantime, his 14 targeted involvement in the competition of this season (eight goals, six assists) are the second most by a French player in one campaign, after Karim Benzema 17 had for Madrid in 2021-22.
Benzema won the Ballon d'Or from the back of that trek, and Luis Enrique stated Saturday that Dembele also deserves to become the best player in the world.
Dembele landed a different prize on Sunday, with the technical observers' group of UEFA – including Gareth Southgate, Rafa Benitez, Roberto Martinez and other coaches and former players – called him the excellent player of the tournament.
“After his eight goals, Dembele took on the role of a leader in the Paris Saint-Germain team, as we saw in the final with how he worked so hard, from the front,” said the group's report.
“Moreover, he created doubts for their game after the game with his smart movement, which falls deeply to give his team superiority in midfield.”
Only Barcelona's Raphinha (13 goals, eight assists) and Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy (13 goals, four assists) improved Dembele's 14 targeted involvement in the 2024-25 tournament.
Only Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with 10 in 2013-14, once scored more goals for PSG in one Champions League tournament.
Dembele's teammate Doue, who became the first player on Saturday to take three targeted involvement in a Champions League final, won Uefa's Young Player of the Season Award.
Doue-Op the age of 19 and 362 days only the third teenager who scored in a Champions League final, after Patrick Kluivert in 1995 (for Ajax against AC Milan) and Carlos Alberto in 2004 (for Porto against Monaco), with another 19-year-old attacker, PSG's Fifth scored.
Both Dembele and Doue were mentioned in the Champions League team of the season, with Vitinha, Achraf Hakimi, Nuno Mendes, Marquinhos and Gianluigi Donnarumma that completed the PSG -Contingent.

Inter-Center-back Alessandro Bastoni and Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice also made the cut, while Barcelona Wingers Raphinha and Lamine Yamal were recorded after their semi-final.
Yamal also won the goal of the seasonal prize for his solo run and curled finish in the first stage of Barca's classic semi-final draw versus Inter.
