PSG vs Arsenal referee served 6-month ban for match-fixing after accepting bribe

The referee who took the lead on the showdown of Arsenal's Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain previously served a ban of six months before competition fixing.

Felix Zwayer, 43, has been given the task of officerizing the semi -final second leg conflicts on Wednesday evening in the Parc des Princes.

The German is one of the best referees in UEFA and took the lead over the semi -final victory of England in the Netherlands at the euro last summer.

Zwayer is now confronted with another big night, because Arsenal seems to be coming back from their 1-0 loss to PSG in the first stage.

The two parties are set to hammer and Tang in search of a place in the final against Barcelona or Inter Milan.

But for the kick -off, the vuited past of Zwayer has now come to light.

In 2005 he was punished for accepting a bribery of colleague Robert Hoyzer.

Zwayer was a linesman at the time and took £ 250 to repair a second division competition in Germany.

An investigation showed that Hoyzer had accepted money from a Croatian gambling syndicate connected to an organized crime group.

He was exiled for life for life, while he also received a prison sentence of two years and five months.

As far as Zwerker is concerned, he was suspended from football for six months before he finally returned to become a Bundesliga Ref in 2009.

His bribery scandal, however, did not go unnoticed by players, where Jude Bellingham refers it as he shoots Zweayer for a controversial criminal decision against the former Borussia Dortmund club.

After a defeat, Bellingham said to Rivals Bayern Munich, Bellingham said: “For me it was not a penalty. You can view many of the other decisions in the game.

“You give a referee who, you know, you will do match, the biggest game in Germany – what do you expect?”
