PSG win Champions League: Two dead and hundreds of arrests across France following final

Two people were dead and nearly 560 people were arrested after the disorder broke out in France after the victory of Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final, the French Interior Ministry said.

The ministry added that 192 people were injured and there were 692 fires, including 264 with vehicles.

The Ministry of the Interior has not revealed any further details about the dead, but reports in France suggest that a 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death while PSG's victory was celebrated in the southern municipality of Dax.

Additional reports say that a 20-year-old man died in a traffic accident Paris in the midst of the parties. He rode a scooter when he was hit.

There were 559 arrests throughout the country as a result of the collisions, including 491 in Paris. Of those who were held throughout the country, 320 were taken in police detention – with 254 in the French capital.

The Ministry of the Interior said that employees of 22 security forces were injured during the chaos – including 18 who were injured in Paris, together with seven firefighters.

Flares and fireworks were left in Paris after PSG Inter Milan defeated 5-0 in Munich -the biggest victory ever in a Champions League final.

Approximately 5,400 police were deployed in Paris after the game, where officers used tear gas and pepper spray on the Champs Elysees.

The police said that a large crowd that did not keep an eye on the game tried to push a barrier to make contact with officers.

After the final in the Allianz Arena, thousands of supporters also tried to hurry the field.

The police were aware of the PSG end of the stadium at the last whistle, but struggled to control the fans for a few minutes when they came from the stands after the trophy presentation.
