PSG’s Luís Campos on Arsenal’s shortlist to replace Edu

As reported by Sky Sports, Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Luís Campos is on Arsenal's shortlist to replace the outgoing Edu.

Edu's announcement that he would be stepping down from his role as sporting director at Arsenal came as a shock. Over the past month, the Premier League side have drawn up a shortlist of potential replacements. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, AS Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro is on this list.

However, a new name has now emerged: Campos. The Portuguese sporting director has overseen a change in strategy at PSG, which has left the 'bling-bling' era behind and instead focused on bleeding through academy products and targeting young, promising players as they move into the enter the market.

Under Campos' leadership, the likes of Joao Neves, Désiré Doué, Goncalo Ramos and Bradley Barcola have all arrived at the Parc des Princes; they are symbols of a new project and a departure from the previous strategy.

However, Campos' future at Les Parisiens is uncertain. His contract runs until the end of the season and while there are discussions about an extension, there is no guarantee they will reach a positive outcome. According to L'Équipe, Campos himself has certain conditions that the Ligue 1 club may have to agree to, for example by bringing in people from his immediate environment, especially in the communications department. The Portuguese sporting director also has to make a decision himself and “some personal problems” could play a role in his decision whether or not to extend in the French capital.
