PSG’s Presnel Kimpembe ‘ready’ for return after nearly two years out – Enrique

Presnel Kimpembe (29) has not played since suffering an Achilles injury in February 2023. However, the Frenchman is now “ready” to return, says Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique.

Kimpembe suffered an Achilles tendon injury almost two years ago. After undergoing surgery following the blow, he had to undergo further surgery a few months later, with the defender still feeling pain in the affected area. It's been a long road back for the centre-back, who was part of the matchday squad in November 2024 before disappearing from the radar again until the end of the year. L'Équipe reported in December that it was a situation that “frustrated” the PSG defender, who was eager to make his return.

Luis Enrique has provided an update on the defender ahead of Les Parisiens' Coup de France match against lower division Espaly.

“After talking to Presnel to see if he's ready, I think he's feeling a lot better. He has been able to train with the group in recent months, but it is important to exchange with the player about how he is feeling. He is ready to help the team,” said Luis Enrique.

It remains to be seen whether Kimpembe will play a role for PSG as they look to secure their progress to the last 16 of the Coupe de France on Wednesday evening.
