
On Friday, the Supreme Court in Spain in Spain Dani Alves released from a rape order, in which an appeal was lodged by the former Barcelona and Sevilla player a year earlier. Alves was convicted in February 2024 and would serve 4.5 years in prison, after he had spent 14 months in custody since he had incited himself.
After the decision, Alves's lawyer, Ines Guardiola, spoke with RAC1 about the decision, as told by the sport.
“We are very happy; justice is finally done. Of course we expected it; he is innocent and it is proven. We are very excited,” Guardiola noted, but said she was not sure if Alves would look for compensation.
On the other hand, Ester Garcia, the lawyer of the prosecutor in the case, noted that her client was distraught because of the resolution.
“As far as the legal side of things is concerned, we must appeal against the ruling. The emotional condition of the client will have to be taken into account, she has been psychologically destroyed. For her it has been two years of hell,” she told the Catalan Daily.
