Sergio Conceicao confirmed that Christian Pulisic will miss AC Milan's blockbuster Serie A showdown with Juventus on Saturday.
Pulisic is the Rossoneri's top scorer this season with ten goals in all competitions, including a penalty in their Supercoppa Italiana victory over the Bianconeri earlier this month.
However, the US international will be unavailable against Juve in Serie A after a half-time knock forced him off in Tuesday's win over Como.
Nevertheless, Conceicao stressed that it is more of a precautionary measure to prevent the midfielder from aggravating his problem as he has not been back from a calf injury for so long.
“Pulisic is out, I don't want to bluff,” the Milan boss told reporters during his pre-match press conference.
“He still has some discomfort, I don't want to take the risk. It's nothing serious, but if he plays for 20 minutes he risks aggravating his situation, and I don't want that.”
Seventh-placed Milan, who are unbeaten in their last eight games in all competitions, can move Juve into fifth place with a win at San Siro.
“There is balance, they are two strong teams,” Conceicao added. “Two teams with very interesting players, but all matches are different. Tomorrow we have to face a team that played a good match against Atalanta [drawing 1-1 on Tuesday].
“We are working on small things that are big things for me. But we have little time, there are many matches, important ones. Until the beginning of February we will play in the Champions League, the league and the Coppa Italia. .”
