Rangers 0-1 Queen’s Park: Seb Drozd and Calum Ferrie the heroes as Rangers dumped out of Scottish Cup after shock Ibrox loss

Seb Drozd wrote itself in the Scottish Cup history by sinking Rangers with a stunning winner at Ibrox, where Gers-Schipper James Tavernier had stored a final fine by Calum Ferrie.

The famous old competition was the last realistic chance of Philippe Clement for a domestic trophy this season, because the Gers are 13 points behind the Premiership leaders Celtic, who defeated them in the Premier Sports Cup final in December. The light blues are through to the last 16 of the Europa League.

The championship side of Callum Davidson held an Under-Par thuis team remotely in the fifth round draw before the only goal scored in the 69th minute by replacement Drozd, the Englishman who signed last October from Millwall.

The home team dramatically received a penalty in the fifth minute of added time when William Tizzard Cyriel Dessers polluted, but Tavernier saw his spot kick saved by Ferrie.

One of the biggest shocks in Scottish football history will put Clement back in the spotlight and the angry around Ibrox called after a defeat that had been unthinkable before the game.

Davidson enjoyed Cup -Success with ST Johnstone in Ibrox in 2021 on the way to winning the trophy, but few would have bet on a second success with the spiders.

Liam Kelly took over from Jack Butland in Doel voor Rangers and the 22-year-old Portuguese defender Rafael Fernandes, on loan from the French side Lille, made his first start, just like the 18-year-old midfielder Bailey Rice. Robin Propper and Nedim Bajrami came back.

Adam Devine, on loan from Rangers, missed for the visitors, replaced by the 19-year-old Zach Mauchin. Drozd fell to the bank in favor of Kyle Hurst, signed on loan from Doncaster.

The light blues made all the early running, but their finish was usually sub -standard.

Ferrie misplace an approval for Mohamed Diomande after four minutes, but the bad attempt by the Gers midfielder to the unguarded goal of 20 Yards missed the target, just like Ianis Hagi's long-distance efforts minutes later.

Ferrie saved from Diomande, twice, wing player Vaclav Cerny and attacker Bajrami and at half an hour the home fans marked without patience.

Just before the break, Diomande succeeded in beating the ball wide from the target from eight meters after a corner and another chance was wasted.

Dessers and Nicolas Raskin replaced Bajrami and Rice for the start of the second half, but it was Hamza Igamane who quickly shot high over the bar to end a new Gers attack.

On the other hand, Hurst centimeter was removed from connecting with a cross from Ryan Duncan, who was clearly sent to the left by Zak Rudden.

Ridvan Yilmaz and John Souttar came up for Fernandes and Hagi after an hour, just before Ferrie pushed a header from close by Igamane after a Cerny corner.

Rangers were in a rut and struggled to get out.

Drozd had been on the field for less than three minutes as a replacement for Hurst when he held on a corner of Louis Longridge, let Brazilian defender Jefte dead and drove through Kelly's legs from 12 meters before he ran around the praise of the ecstatic traveling fans.

Rangers kept pushing, but the visitors dropped everything that was thrown at them and by the end the home team attacked frustration instead of a deception, where the sessers failed with an extra chance when he hesitated before he shot his shot by Ferrie Had saved.

Then the penalty drama came, but even then Ferrie could not be beaten, dive to the left to push the Penalty of Tavernier away, and shortly thereafter the last whistle came that confirmed a famous victory.
