Rangers and Scotland striker Jane Ross set to retire at end of season

Rangers and Scotland -striker Jane Ross has announced that she will retire at the end of this season.

The former Manchester City, Manchester United, West Ham and Glasgow City player played 19 seasons and won several major awards.

Ross has won four Scottish ladies Premier League titles, three with Glasgow City and one with Rangers Plus three Scottish women's cups.

The 35-year-old also achieved a Women's Super League title, Women's League Cup and FA Women's Cup, all with Manchester City.

Ross earned 151 international caps since she made her senior debut in March 2009 and scored 62 goals.

When announcing her plans to retire, Ross said: “I am always a bit known in my career that I would know when the time is ripe, and for me personally it just feels like the right time.

“I loved my career, I enjoyed what I did and it is a dream come true to achieve what I have, but the timing is good and I am enthusiastic about the future and what comes next.

“It was a dream to sign and play for them for this club. To win trophies here, to play at Ibrox, there are so many children's dreams that have been reached.

“I think it feels good for me to finish my career, hopefully to close a triplicate, but we'll see in the coming weeks.

“I am clearly just grateful and grateful for everyone who supported me during my career.

“The people know who they are, I could sit and mention them all, I also met great people, some who will be friends for life and have worked with so many wonderful people, which has been special.

“I also feel very privileged that I could have traveled the world all over the world and have experienced what I have, and it certainly helped me as a person and as a player.”

Rangers still have three SWPL games to go while offering to catch leaders, with their last game at Ibrox next Sunday, live on Sky Sports.
