Angel Gomes has sealed his free transfer movement to Marseille, with his former teammates at Manchester United quickly to respond to the news while he reunites with one of them
Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford have expressed their support for Angel Gomes, after the move of the ex-manchester United midfielder to Marseille.
The 24-year-old ditch a deal with the Ligue 1 club earlier this week after he had chosen not to extend his contract in Lille. Since he had moved from United to Lille in 2020, Gomes has thrown in France and achieved his first of four English call-ups last year.
When his contract in Lille approached the end, Gomes would consider a return to the Premier League, with Tottenham, West Ham, Newcastle United and Liverpool reportedly interested in the former United player.
However, Gomes has decided to leave with Lille, and has now put Pen with Marseille on paper.
On Thursday, the Ligue 1 side on Instagram announced that they had concluded an agreement with Gomes, established to become a member of the club when the transfer window reopens later this month. His former united colleagues, Rashford and Greenwood, showed their support to like the mail.
Gomes' move to the Stade Velodrome will reunite him with Greenwood, who has been playing for Marseille since last summer.
Greenwood has had a pretty impact in France since the United last summer, and has received 21 goals and offers six assists to help Roberto de Zerbi's team secure a Champions League spot.
In a recent interview with the Athletic, Marseille -midfielder Adrien Rabiot Greenwood greeted as an incredible player.
The French star has praised him and explained, “Mason is an incredible player”, and continued to say, “If he hadn't had all his problems, I think he would have an image as an image [Jude] Bellingham. Mason would be the star. “
