Ben Foster has opened up on Marcus Rashford, claiming the Manchester United striker is 'not worth' a substantial transfer fee as he is being sold.
The 27-year-old forward has been left out of Ruben Amorim's last three matchday squads, including the Manchester derby. That omission followed reports that he would be put up for sale in the coming months in a bid to raise additional transfer funds.
Rashford himself admitted at the time that he is ready to make a fresh start elsewhere, but Foster believes he is unlikely to attract high-profile suitors and may even have to make the jump to the United States.
Speaking on his Cycling GK podcast, Foster said: “Marcus Rashford… There's so many people talking about him saying 'on his day, on his day'. His day is once every ten games. Really, it's once in the ten matches. games and you can't have a luxury player in the modern game that gives you one game out of 10, it's that simple.
“Combined with the fact that he's going to have so much reputation and baggage and everything that comes with that, I don't think Mikel Arteta wants that anywhere near that Arsenal.
“He has to leave Manchester United. I think it will be an MLS transfer or something. It will have to be a huge pay cut.”
Foster then questioned whether Rashford still had the necessary 'fire' to revive his career – whether at Manchester United or elsewhere.
He also denied suggestions that United wanted to make £40million from his sale, claiming he would not even pay £10million for the Red Devils academy graduate.
Foster continued, “Once that fire goes out, can you get it back? It must come from him. I don't think he can get it back.
“Again, you're talking about money ruining everything, guys. Once people get that huge contract and have it in the bank for five years, they have everything they'll ever need for the rest of their lives. , that it takes (that fire) away.
'They were talking about £40 million too, you know. Even 10, I'm not paying £10 million… because of everything.'
