Rashford ends goal drought to fire Aston Villa into FA Cup semi-finals

Marcus Rashford scored twice to help Aston Villa beat Preston North End with 3-0 and reach their first FA Cup semi-final in a decade.

Marcus Rashford ended a four-month goals in style and scored twice to push Aston Villa to a 3-0 win over Preston North End and secure a place in the semi-final of the FA Cup.

The attacker, on loan from Manchester United, had not scored since he had delivered a brace against Everton on 1 December.

Despite some missed opportunities early in the game in Deepdale, Rashford opened the score in the 58th minute and converted a precise cut of Lucas Dignne.

Only five minutes later, Rashford doubled Villa's lead after Morgan Rogers was brought down in the area by Andrew Hughes.

The international of England sent goalkeeper David Cornell calmly the wrong way to use his second goal of the night.

Villa's dominance became clearer as the game progressed. With Preston Missing Key Players-including the first-choice keeper Freddie Woodman due to injury and on-Loan defender Kaine Keser-Hayden, who was not eligible for his parent club scooped their grip.

Jacob Ramsey sealed the victory with a thunderous strike from the edge of the box in the 71st minute, again assisted by Digne.

The result marks Aston Villa's first FA Cup semi -final appearance in ten years. They will be confronted with Crystal Palace, while since 1957 they continue to pursue a first FA Cup title.
