Rashford given strict deadline to decide on dream Man Utd transfer exit

Marcus Rashford must decide on Monday whether to join AC Milan following talks over a loan switch.

The 27-year-old Manchester United forward is expected to leave Old Trafford this month. And the player and his representatives have spoken to interested clubs in recent days, including Milan.

The Italian giants are keen to land Rashford for the second half of the season, but as The Star first revealed, they have set a deadline on Monday for him to make a decision on the move.

Rashford has not yet given the green light for the temporary switch. And with Barcelona's interest in his services increasing, Milan president Paolo Scaroni is reportedly running out of patience when it comes to the player making a decision.

While Barcelona would like to loan Rashford out until the summer, it remains to be seen how they will finance such a deal given their well-documented financial problems.

With Rashford currently earning £350,000 a week, Barca would be reliant on United's willingness to subsidize the majority of his wages. This is unlikely to appeal to Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who has already decided that Rashford should not join a domestic rival.

Rashford expressed his desire for a new challenge last month and has already generated interest from abroad. But he has no desire to move to the Saudi Pro League or MLS, rejecting offers from both leagues.

It is understood Rashford wants to stay in Europe to boost his chances of getting back into the England squad, with Thomas Tuchel now at the helm.

Rashford was not included in Ruben Amorim's recent matchday squads and United's new boss refused to be consulted on whether the forward had played his last game for the club earlier this week.

“I don't know, we'll see. He's a Manchester United player. We'll see,” Amorim said.

“He has to work. He has to represent this club and he loves this club, but I have to make choices.” [I] already talked about how I make the choices. So it is what it is.

“So let's continue. Let's see the next match. And like I said, I have a selection to make.”
